MIND newsletter: Love and fear

Happy Saturday everyone! 😉

An eventful week has made me think about love and fear.

For me love and fear are inseparable. On one hand, to love meant being open and vulnerable, and that we would inevitably confront our fear of losing that love, leaving us in profound pain.

One needs to be vulnerable to know what life is, what love is.

On the other hand, love makes fear disappear.

The love of our parents instills in us the belief that we can conquer almost anything in this world, that nothing is impossible, that even though the world is a fearful place, home is where you can shelter from all the storms and no fear can exist.

Our love for our work propels us through the trials and uncertainties of our careers. It’s almost impossible to find a career that guarantees to consistently bring us unadulterated joy. Challenges will arise, moments of doubt will loom, and we’ll find ourselves at the edge of decisions – to leap or to persevere. Yet, with love as our guiding force, we remain close to our purpose and wake up each day ready to keep working enthusiastically.

love

I like to liken the love we receive from our friends and partners to a rainbow that appears after a rain. It comes in various colors, intensities, and meanings. Unlike the unwavering, unconditional love of our parents, this love doesn’t always come with a guarantee. Yet it accompanies us and physically manifests in our daily lives.

Love arrives with fear, but it also possesses the power to dispel fear. While these two statements may initially seem contradictory, they, in fact, amplify each other’s significance. Acknowledging the fear that accompanies love is essential because that fear compels us to confront reality and strip away any illusions. I’ve always believed that fear is one of life’s most generous teachers, peeling away the layers of our unconsciousness.

Yet, once we recognize and confront that fear, while still choosing to love, that love becomes resilient enough to endure and thrive in life. It has the capacity to render all other fears. It has the capacity to be with us side by side beyond the physical world.

This newsletter is dedicated to every loving parent in the world, for their love that fortifies their children and instills fearlessness – a love that never fades but remains eternally unwavering by their children’s side.
