Welcome to The 'Ordinary' Purpose podcast

As I sit out now on my deck of the house, I look at the trees blowing a little in the breeze. And I’ve seen them innumerable times. But somehow seeing the trees this time is a transcendent experience. I see how marvelous it is, and I think to myself I’ve had these here all along. But have I really appreciated them? And the fact is that I have not. Until now.

These are the words of a 97 year old philosopher at the time he has to face his death. What is the point of it all? is one of his questions, referring to life, our existence, our purpose.

I think about these words quite often. What have I overlooked in life’s abundance? What fears do I avoid confronting? What are things that I want to do but never have the courage to do? This year has been generous and uncomfortable at the same time. Perhaps that discomfort gave me the courage to start this new project – The ‘Ordinary’ Purpose podcast. In a world often clouded by capitalism, colonization, and, regrettably, hatred and polarization, I found listening to others’ inspiring stories gives me some fresh air, some hope. And I want to share that with the world, my world.

For you, my regular readers, this also means I might not write as frequently. But I hope you still stay, and enjoy our conversations just in a different format. The introduction episode is on air now, after I overcame my nervousness and perfectionism. If you have any feedback or thoughts to share, please send them my way. It means the world to me, especially after countless retakes (trust me, there were many!)

That’s it for today. I hope you have an awesome weekend. Enjoy the last breezes of November before we step into the final month of the year. Time flies.
